Peshsaf participates in the development of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan

Development the Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan includes the technical draft design of the document, analysis of the current legislation in the field of environmental protection, institutional analysis, analysis of international experience, monitoring and evaluation, development of recommendations for further actions and approval of the final version of the Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan as required internal procedures as defined in the Terms of reference.
It is planned that the formation of all stages of the project will take place in close cooperation with the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the parliamentary environmental commission, as well as specialists from various ministries and departments who are in one way or another interested in environmental management issues. Particularly important is the inclusion of specialists in related issues, such as healthcare, emergencies, agriculture, food security, biodiversity, climate change, etc.
The basis for monitoring the activities of the working groups formed within the framework of the project with the support of the Committee will be the organization’s specialists, who will raise the issue of coordinating the work for the successful implementation of the goals. It is important to attract specialists from academic and educational circles who work closely on the development of environmental legislation in the country and have experience in drawing up educational, scientific, general educational methods and programs, in order to integrate their opinions into the code.
Taking into account public opinion is extremely important for the decision-making process, taking into account the requirements of national legislation and the requirements of the Aarhus Convention. Opinions are taken into account through public hearings and electronic mailings. These methods are the most effective and will help get the most feedback from the interested public.
Project implementation period: 12 months from the date of signing the agreement. The assignment is expected to be completed by December 2024.
